One simple, wonderful thing is guaranteed to make you happier and more influential each day. It is so simple you might miss it. Can you guess what it is?
Here's a hint. Princess Diana urged "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."
It is simply "kindness".

| When I was in my sadest moment, I knew that by reaching out and helping others I would pull myself out of the depths of pain. I started a charity event and online auction which so far has raised enough money to build 2 schools in the developing world (thanks to a huge group of fabulous volunteers, sponsors and supporters). We're trying to build another one now. (You are welcome and encouraged to join us on Oct 5! Go to www.bricksandbooksevent.com to learn more) Whether you choose to volunteer, contribute to a charity event or project or just extend a hand or smile to someone who needs it, you are starting a chain of random acts of kindness that has the potential to transform the world. And think about what it does to your influence. Simply put, would you rather work with (collaborate with, contribute to, support) someone who shows kindness or someone who does not? It's so simple it's scary. I welcome your commments below about how a simple act of kindness helped you - whether you were the giver or the receiver. |

After writing this blog I keep finding stories that reinforce the power of kindness.
For example, I just read something interesting about the great English writer, Aldous Huxley, who was a pioneer in the study of philosophies and techniques to develop human potential. In a lecture toward the end of his life, he said this:
"People often ask me...what is the most effective technique for transforming their lives?"
He then said, "It's a little embarrassing that after years and years of research, my best answer is - just be a little kinder."
